Tennessee Mission Trip
Becky's Site

These pics are from our Tennessee Mission Trip this past summer.  We "bonded" (in the words of Hannah) on this trip!

This is our whole group that went.... I think we had 24 or 25 people in all on this trip.  Awesome.  This was at about 6:30 in the morning right before we left.

This is my work group.  They split us up into 2 groups to do different projects every day.  This was our first mission project.  A 70-year-old man had to step from his ground up to his house every day to get in and out because he didn't have a deck, so we built him one.  This is before....

This family's kitchen floor was literally rotting in.  We had to completely replace the floor.  I don't have a before picture of this one, but this is the finished project.

We also built a picnic table for the camp to send to a family that needed it.  Here I am making myself useful.

mehorse.jpg

Me on my assigned horse, Surprise.  That was her name... Surprise.  Wouldn't you love to be told that about a horse you'd never ridden in your life?  We all went horseback riding while we were down there, and it was pretty fun.

You may have heard of "Lookout Mountain."  You're supposed to be able to see like five state borders from it.  Well, we were at the top of it.  There's another picture of Brett standing on the rail thingy around us that keeps us from falling down the mountain somewhere.  He scared the crap outta me.

This is a real picture.  It is the actual sunset view from our camp.  Our camp was on Ice Mountain in Ducktown, Tennessee.

......this is after.

This house belongs to an old couple, and the woman has to get around in a wheelchair.  Until now, she had to have someone lift her up her steps because she had no handicap ramp on her house.  We also resided the house and painted the gray around the bottom.

Though we spent all week with no air-conditioning (or humidity), 4 showers to be shared among about 100 girls in the whole camp, and no need to "get pretty" at any point in time, we did have one night when we all went out together.... and we attempted to "get pretty."  This was that night.

bluewaterhole.jpg

A few nights out of the week after we were done working, we went to what they call the Blue Water Hole on the Ocoee River.  The water was cold, and the rocks under the water were VERY slippery.  I think every one of us busted our butts at one time or another down there, but it's ok.... We had fun. (That's me in the red shorts. Foot right beside me.)

Okay, this is what scared me.  Brett's standing on the rail around the peak of the mountain... about a mile high.  And here's Tyson taking a picture of it, along with Dennis, who took this one.
